Overview, Overview, The Island of Telendos, Kalymnos Travel Guide

The idyllic island of Telendos, where locals are busy mainly with fishery, agriculture and traditional weaving, is far away from pollution and traffic problems since there are no cars. Life on the island without asphalt and cars has its own slow rhythm.

Telendos, apart from it's beautiful landscapes, is also a historical area which offers a great interest for all visitors. The island's contribution in the area's cultural and economical development is essential.

Telendos is a tiny island where the locals value tradition and still choose the slow traditional way of life. A truly special island.

Byzantine Fort

On the west coast of the island of Telendos are found the remains of a Byzantine Fort. Parts of the wall are still visible as well as the sanctuary of the church of Aghios Constantinos.

Telendos - Water and Provisions

Telendos - Water and Provisions, Overview, The Island of Telendos, Kalymnos Travel Guide

Being a small island, all provisions, including water, are brought over from Kalymnos. The regular ferry from Kalymnos operates every half hour and keeps the island alive.

Look closely at some of the gardens and you will notice that many of the plants are plastic - very low rainfall and little water makes this a neccessity.
